An Emirati boy died in a car crash while driving in Sharjah’s Maleiha Road, authorities confirmed on Friday (November 15). The incident was reported to the Sharjah Police last Saturday. According to initial reports, the car overturned on Maleiha Road, which resulted in the death of the 13-year-old boy. Initial investigation revealed that the boy was speeding, which caused him to lose control of the vehicle. His body was transferred to Al Dhaid Hospital. Following the incident, authorities made renewed calls to parents against allowing children to drive without a valid licence. In response to the “rapid evolution of transportation worldwide”, the UAE implemented changes to the traffic law last month, including lowering the minimum age for legal driving to 17.
