Emirati honoured for 49 years of clean traffic record

DUBAI – A 78-year-old Emirati man who has never committed a traffic offence in the last 49 years has been honoured by the Ras Al Khaimah Police. Saeed Balhoun was honoured for being the “ideal motorist”, said Brigadier Dr. Mohammed Al Humaidi, Director General of Ras Al Khaimah Police. “Honouring the ideal motorist is in line with efforts to establish a partnership between police and the community, and helps enhance road safety by encouraging motorists to abide by traffic rules and regulations,” Al Humaidi said. Balhoun first received his driving licence in Kuwait in 1969. He has been a model driver since then. “My commitment to the rules came from a great conviction in maintaining the safety and security of roads for both pedestrians and drivers,” he said.
