  DUBAI – A 23-year-old Emirati inspector allegedly posed as a policeman so he could rape a Moroccan hairstylist, the court heard on Sunday. The Moroccan, 24, testified to prosecutors that she had just gotten into a taxi with her friend after leaving a nightclub when their vehicle was pulled over by the Emirati. She admitted being drunk when the inspector took his ID card and asked her to sit in his vehicle. She claimed that the inspector told her that he was taking her to the police station but that he instead “drove his car to a poorly lit area where he slapped me and pulled my hair when I refused to take off my clothes”. “Then he yelled and pulled my hair again and I had to remove my clothes because I was petrified. Then he raped me, left me outside the car and drove away,” the woman said. She said that the incident left her “petrified” and that she only reported the incident to the police after two days because she was “still drunk”. It is believed that the Emirati raped her in the sandy area behind the building where she lives. Police were able to identify the Emirati after they found a missed call to his mobile number on the woman’s phone. When he appeared before the court on Sunday, the Emirati denied raping the woman. A police officer had testified that during questioning, the Emirati said that he agreed to pay Dh1,000 to the woman for sex but that she lodged her complaint when he later refused to pay her.
