Filipino rock legends Eraserheads are making it official—the band is back, and this time, it’s not just another reunion. During a recent press conference following the media screening of Eraserheads: Combo on the Run, frontman Ely Buendia declared that the group is “here to stay.” “By this time, I think tama na yung reunion-reunion na yan. Wala nang huling-huling El Bimbo—we’re here to stay… Until we decide to break up again, that is,” Buendia joked, drawing laughter from the audience. The documentary, directed by Maria Diane Ventura, offers an unfiltered look at the band's journey, from their rise to fame to their highly publicized break-up and long-awaited reunion concerts. Buendia admitted to getting emotional while watching the film, revealing that it was the first time he heard the thoughts of his fellow band members about the past. The film screened in over 150 cinemas across the Philippines until March 23, treating fans to a deeply personal and raw narrative of one of the country’s most iconic bands.

Eraserheads’ ‘revenge show’ in Dubai

Last December, the Eraserheads performed in Dubai for the first time in over a decade, treating fans to a show that band members called their “revenge show.” Speaking to Expat Media in an exclusive interview, the band opened up about the concert at Expo City Dubai on December 8, which aimed to make up for a 2013 performance marred by technical difficulties. “We had massive technical problems back then,” drummer Raimund Marasigan recalled. “This is the revenge show. Now, we are very ready.” Reflecting on their music’s evolution, guitarist Marcus Adoro likened it to aging gracefully. “Sometimes a song ages. You can dress it up or take off a jacket,” he told Expat Media in Filipino. Buendia emphasized that while they’ve embraced modern technology to enhance live performances, they remain true to their original sound. From their record-breaking 1993 debut ultraelectromagneticpop! to their legendary hit Ang Huling El Bimbo, the Eraserheads’ music has transcended generations. “You’ll see a grandmother and her grandchild singing together,” Marasigan said, highlighting the band’s lasting impact.
