Ethiopian woman found dead in Sharjah apartment

  DUBAI – A 28-year-old Ethiopian woman was found dead in an apartment in Sharjah’s Al Mahata Al Qasimia area. Four people—including three of her friends and the building watchman, were taken into police custody for interrogation as part of investigations. According to initial investigation, the woman, who worked as a housemaid, died of an illness on December 11. Police identified her by her first name, Tegist. Police said Tegist was staying illegally in the UAE. Her flatmates said that she had told them that she worked for an Arab family who did not pay her salary for three months. The morning before she died, Tegist reportedly said she felt sick and just lay in bed. Her friends later found her dead and called the police.
