Etihad Airways has revealed its plans to restructure its range of routes to achieve sustainable expansion. The airline plans to enhance its winter schedule with more destinations, increased flights, and optimized departure times. New routes to Kozhikode and Thiruvananthapuram, India, will also be introduced in January 2024. Antonoaldo Neves, Chief Executive of Etihad Airways, said there will be 11 new routes for expansion, enhancing connectivity and serving Abu Dhabi while exploring new markets. Etihad Airways also announced its plans to expand their flight routes by incorporating 9 more destinations consisting of Kolkata, St Petersburg, Düsseldorf, Copenhagen, Osaka, Boston and Lisbon, which will now be accessible all year round. Flight services to Chennai, Islamabad, Kochi, Madrid, Milan, Munich, Rome, Phuket, Cairo, Colombo and Maldives will also be enhanced as part of the plan. The airline will adjust schedules to allow visitors to explore Abu Dhabi before departure and aims to support economic growth and strengthen Abu Dhabi's position as a business and tourism hub. Etihad Airways targets 30 million passengers and 150 planes by 2030, with 10% yearly growth and improved connectivity between key regions via Abu Dhabi hub.
