Passengers of Abu Dhabi-based airline can now fly to Buenos Aires, other South American cities

  ABU DHABI – Etihad Airways has signed a codeshare agreement with Argentine carrier Aerolineas Argentina. Under the deal, Etihad said passengers can fly with Buenos Aires via Madrid and Rome and then travel onwards to nine other South American destinations, namely, Córdoba, Mendoza, Rosario, Iguazú, Salta, Mar del Plata, Bariloche, Trelew and Ushuaia. Aerolíneas Argentinas passengers, on the other hand, will have access to Etihad Airways' network of over 100 destinations from its Abu Dhabi hub via Italy and Spain. Etihad Airways vice president commercial Mohammad Al Bulooki said the codeshare agreement with Aerolineas Argentina "demonstrates the importance of Argentina as a vital travel market for Etihad Airways in Latin America given the growing tourism, cultural and business opportunities that exist between the UAE and Argentina." Al Bulooki also said Etihad wants to give "travellers flying Aerolíneas Argentinas the opportunity to enjoy the acclaimed service and hospitality for which Etihad Airways is renowned throughout the world." Etihad said members of loyalty program of both airlines – Etihad Guest and Aerolíneas Plus – will soon be able to earn and redeem miles on the codeshare flights. Meanwhile, Aerolíneas Argentinas' chief commercial officer Diego Garcia said the codeshare pact "is a very good opportunity to consolidate and increase our offer to one of the most important hubs in the Middle East." "It also allows us to improve our load factors, optimise the use of the fleet and strengthen the image of Aerolíneas Argentinas in the Asian market.
