Tickets for train trips between Abu Dhabi and Fujairah can now be booked via Etihadrail.ae

Residents and tourists can now book tickets for the UAE’s first passenger rail service, with Etihad Rail opening reservations for travel between Abu Dhabi and Fujairah ahead of the network’s introductory launch on June 30. Tickets are now available through the Etihad Rail website and mobile application, with fares starting at Dh55 for Comfort Class and Dh120 for Premium Class. The Abu Dhabi-Fujairah route marks the first operational phase of the UAE’s long-awaited passenger rail network and will serve as a precursor to the nationwide rollout scheduled to begin on September 30. According to Etihad Rail, the journey between Abu Dhabi and Fujairah will take approximately one hour and 59 minutes, significantly reducing travel times between the two emirates. The trains will operate at speeds of up to 200km/h and each train will accommodate up to 400 passengers. The wider passenger rail network was officially unveiled on Tuesday (June 23) as Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, inaugurated the Mohamed bin Zayed City Passenger Train Station in Abu Dhabi. The national passenger network will officially launch on September 30 with the opening of Dubai Train Station and Al Dhaid Train Station. Additional stations in Al Dhafra are scheduled to open on December 30, while Sharjah Train Station will complete the first phase of the network on March 30, 2027. Sheikh Khaled said the passenger rail project reflects the UAE’s vision for a fully integrated transport system that strengthens connectivity between emirates while supporting sustainable development, tourism and investment. He said the project is a strategic investment that advances the UAE’s Projects of the 50 initiative and enhances the country’s long-term competitiveness. Meanwhile, Etihad Rail has completed its first passenger station in Fujairah ahead of the launch. Located in the Madinat Al Hilal area, the Fujairah Passenger Station spans 51,900 square metres and is strategically positioned approximately 12 minutes from Fujairah International Airport, six minutes from Umbrella Beach Corniche and five minutes from Sakamkam Fort. Passengers using the new rail service can expect a modern travel experience with retail outlets, cafés, restaurants, waiting areas, automated payment machines, high-speed Wi-Fi, VIP lounges and onboard dining services. Passenger operations will be managed by Etihad Rail Passenger Services, a joint venture between Etihad Rail and international transport operator Keolis. Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of Etihad Rail, described the passenger rail network as a transformative milestone that will provide residents and visitors with more convenient and flexible travel options while supporting urban development across the UAE. The passenger railway project forms part of the UAE Railway Programme launched under the Projects of the 50 initiative in 2021 and is built around three pillars: freight services, passenger rail services and integrated transport solutions.
