Etihad Rail transported over 459,000 tonnes of cargo in nine days. ETIHAD RAIL

Etihad Rail has played a key role in maintaining the flow of goods across the UAE amid ongoing regional disruptions. Its freight division operated more than 100 train trips in the first nine days of Iranian strikes against the UAE, transporting over 459,000 tonnes of cargo and nearly 7,900 containers across the national network. “The UAE’s national railway network was built to strengthen the resilience and reliability of the country’s logistics and supply chain ecosystem,” said Omar Alsebeyi, the Executive Director of Commercial and Performance at Etihad Rail. The rail network connects major industrial zones, ports and logistics hubs, helping ensure continuity in supply chains. To boost capacity, additional rail corridors were activated, including expanded connections to East Coast ports and Al Ghail Dry Port. Etihad Rail also operated three passenger services on an exceptional basis to transport residents from Ghuweifat to Abu Dhabi. Etihad Rail is expected to officially launch its passenger services later this year. The company said operations remain aligned with safety protocols and are coordinated with relevant authorities. “Our teams remain fully mobilised and closely aligned with national authorities to ensure the continuity of freight services that support the UAE’s economy,” Alsebeyi said.
