No driving license test for visitors from 43 countries
For expats, getting a driving license in the UAE is their first priority. While the majority of residents must pass a number of tests before receiving a license, there are a few countries where license holders are exempt from these requirements and are permitted to drive within the nation. Within the "Markhoos" initiative, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) provides a service that makes the exchange of driving licenses easier. Visitors are allowed to use their national driving licenses or, if they have a resident permission, exchange them for UAE licenses. License holders from the following 43 countries are permitted to exchange their home country's driving license for a UAE license, according to a list published on the MoI website: Estonia Albania Portugal China Hungary Greece Ukraine Bulgaria Slovak Slovenia Serbia Cyprus Latvia Luxembourg Lithuania Malta Iceland Montenegro United State of America France Japan Belgium Switzerland Germany Italy Sweden Ireland Spain Norway New Zealand Romania Singapore Hong Kong Netherlands Denmark Austria Finland United Kingdom Turkey Canada Poland South Africa Australia KD/Expat MediaFor all the latest news from the UAE and the world, follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and subscribe to our YouTube page
