  DUBAI – In a video posted on Thursday (December 1), expatriates expressed their thoughts about living in the UAE and acknowledged the people who worked to keep the country safe. Abdul Bashit Quresi, a Pakistani man married to an Indian woman, has been living in the UAE with his family for the past 40 years. “The UAE has allowed us to be who we are. That is the fabric of this nation,” Quresi said. Lebanese Noora Nasrallah said she considers the UAE her home. Nasrallah’s grandparents moved to Ras Al Khaimah before it became a part of the UAE. She has been residing in the emirate for the last three years. “I really do identify the UAE as the only home I’ve had,” she said. Dinesh Khiara, an Indian resident of Dubai for 30 years, said that living in the UAE has opened doors to his famly. “My father and my mother arrived in Dubai by a ship called Sardana, and we lived in a building called Sardana in Bur Dubai,” he said. Christina Sprengel, a German who has resided in the UAE for the last 10 years, said she was attracted to the country after a friend told her about work opportunities here. “It’s a very positive environment. It’s very secure... It’s just meant for success,” Sprengel said. Christopher Lawrence, a Filipino, has been residing in the UAE for the past 20 years. “My mom was the first one to come to the UAE. She loved working here,” he said. Lawrence teaches dancing. “I just want to promote the hiphop culture in the UAE, teaching kids,” he said. Ibrahim Kabel, Egyptian, has been living in the UAE for 13 years. He loves the country because of the security it offers to his family. Kabel also echoed expatriates’ gratitude to the men and women in uniform who keep this country safe. “What they did is not only for their country, it’s for us, too,” he said.
