Expect more foggy mornings in UAE

DUBAI – As Saturday morning fog shrouded parts of the UAE, forecasters said dense fog will continue to cover coastal cities this week. Forecasters said humidity levels will rise at night and early morning on Saturday and Sunday, increasing the chance of fog over the coastal cities of Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Umm Al Quwain. Visibility could drop to less than 500 metres over some areas, according to the National Centre of Meteorology. The fog is expected to clear by around 11am. On Saturday, the weather will be fair to partly cloudy in general, with light winds blowing over coastal and internal areas. Foggy weather on Thursday resulted in a 28-vehicle pileup on Emirates Road in Dubai. Nine people were injured. The incident happened just a few days after a 44-vehicle pileup in Abu Dhabi that injured 22 people. On Monday, the weather will continue to be humid at night and in the morning across the UAE. The temperature will still be cooler, averaging a maximum of 24.2 degrees Celsius compared to 22.5 degrees Celsius during January.
