Expired US tourist visas can be renewed through mail

Officials from the US embassy have stated that people having US visas that have expired in the last four years are eligible to obtain an interview waiver. According to Jonathan Webster, Consul General at the US Embassy in Abu Dhabi, “Anyone who has a visa that expired within the last four years will be able to renew by mail and generally won’t need to come in for an interview." Prior to these changes, only those with visas that had recently expired were eligible to renew by mail. “We hope that will really benefit regular travelers to the United States and business travelers who may frequently visit,” Webster said. “We then work to process those visas within a matter of weeks,” he added.
