What to expect on Expo 2020 Dubai Finale Day

The six-month Dubai extravaganza will reach its grand finale on March 31 at the central Al Wasl Plaza, making a full circle with its opening ceremony last October 2021. The ending will begin at 7pm with Mira Singh, the same girl who started the opening ceremony while utilizing the Al Wasl’s dome, the world’s largest 360-degree projection surface with a new journey. The celebration invites the next generation to look forward to the future wonders to be achieved in the next 50 years as the country reaches its Golden Jubilee. The closing ceremony will witness more than 400 professionals, volunteers of 56 nationalities, 745 costumes, and an unending flow of star-studded performers. The audience will witness the performances of pop legend Christina Aguilera and Grammy-winning singer and pianist Norah Jones on the Jubilee Stage, and the Grammy-winning cellist Yo-Yo Ma at the Dubai Millennium Amphitheatre. Ishy Bilady, the national anthem of UAE, will be sung by a UAE-based children’s choir and the all-women Firdaus Orchestra. Al Wasl Plaza’s wonderful moments will be showcased once again such as Emirati poetess Oudhs bint Khalifa Al Suwaidi’s sky calligraphy poetry, Journey of the 50th’s falcon, and the majestic horse of The Boy and The Horse as a tribute for the Ruler of Dubai. The ceremony will be streamed live on Virtual Expo and Expo TV. Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence and Commissioner-General of Expo 2020 Dubai, will also have a ceremonial passing of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) Flag to Ambassador Jai-Chul Choi, President of the BIE General Assembly. The next Expo will be held in Osaka, Japan in 2025. The remaining celebrations for an unforgettable ending of Expo 2020 Dubai will continue for firework-filled midnight until 3am. KSO/Expat Media
