Sheikh Mohammed approves Dh10 billion expansion of Expo City Dubai exhibition centre

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Ruler of Dubai and Prime Minister of the UAE, has approved a massive Dh10 billion expansion plan for Expo City Dubai’s exhibition centre. The expansion aims to increase the exhibition space from 58,000 square meters to an impressive 180,000 square meters, making it the largest indoor exhibition and events venue in the region by 2031. The expansion is part of Dubai’s ambitious Urban Plan 2040 and the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33), aimed at boosting the city’s role as a global hub for events and business. With the number of annual events set to double from 300 to 600, the venue’s capacity will grow to accommodate up to 65,000 visitors daily. Other features include an external exhibition plaza of 22,000 square meters, retail and F&B spaces spanning 7,000 square meters, and an 8,000-square-meter office area. A multi-storey parking lot with over 5,000 spaces and a 300-key hotel are also part of the project, ensuring convenience for exhibitors and attendees alike. The economic impact of the expanded exhibition centre is expected to reach between Dh18 billion and Dh54 billion by 2033, further solidifying Dubai’s position as a key player in the global events and exhibitions industry.
