UAE residents are being targeted once again by scammers posing as representatives of Aramex, a well-known parcel delivery company. The latest scam involves fake SMS messages informing recipients that their Aramex package has been withheld due to an “invalid zip code address.” The message prompts victims to click on a link to update their address and clear the shipment. “My family and I started getting these messages this week. We know to ignore them, but I’m just worried for others out there who might be new to this kind of thing,” a resident told Expat Media. Aramex has confirmed that they only contact customers through official channels and have advised anyone who receives such messages to report them immediately to authorities. The logistics company emphasized that it would never ask customers to update personal details through unsolicited links. This type of scam is not new in the UAE. A similar scheme involved fraudsters impersonating Emirates Post, sending messages urging recipients to “update your shipping address and reschedule your delivery.” Both Aramex and Emirates Post have urged residents to be vigilant and avoid clicking on links from unknown sources. Authorities have repeatedly warned that scammers often use such tactics to gain access to personal and financial information, including bank details. Residents are advised to report any suspicious messages to the relevant authorities and avoid sharing personal information through unofficial channels. Aramex has further cautioned residents to avoid using any unofficial email accounts to communicate with their representatives and has reiterated that legitimate communications will always be made via their registered accounts.
