A man who sold his car for Dh160,000 but refused to hand over the vehicle to the buyer has been ordered to repay the amount. The Al Ain Court of First Instance also fined the car owner Dh7,000 in compensation for damages suffered by the buyer. The buyer sued the owner of the car after he did not receive the vehicle despite paying the latter Dh160,000 following a verbal sale agreement. The car owner admitted in court that he received the cash payment, and requested the court to give him a deadline to repay the Dh160,000 in installments. He also requested for no compensation for damages. The court did not rule in his favour, and found him guilty of not implementing his agreement with the appellant, which the court said “caused damage and loss”.
