Police in the UAE have issued a strong warning to residents amid a surge in fake rental and job advertisements, phishing links, and too-good-to-be-true offers on social media. Dubai Police, Abu Dhabi Police and Ajman Police have reiterated a warning to residents against dealing with unlicensed realtors as well as scammers targeting victims with fake rentals with low prices. Ajman Police recently launched the “Your Security is in Your Awareness” campaign, authorities aim to educate the public about rising electronic fraud cases. Colonel Ahmed Al Nuaimi, Director of Criminal Investigations at Ajman Police, said: “This campaign is designed to educate the public against electronic fraud aimed at stealing money and against deceptive advertisements and suspicious links that promise enticing offers.” Scams include fake resort and farm rentals, bogus sales offers, and impersonation of banks and government entities. Dubai Police recently arrested a fake agent who scammed multiple individuals in the emirate. Earlier this year, the police force also dismantled a cybercrime gang that lured victims with fake links impersonating popular companies and brands. Ajman Police urged residents to report suspicious ads via their smart app or contact 067037309. ICA/Expat Media
