Sarah Lacina of Cedar Rapids in Iowa takes home US$1M cash prize

  LOS ANGELES – Sarah Lacina, a police officer of Cesar Rapids, Iowa, was crowned the winner of "Survivor: Game Changers". Lacina, 33, dominated the 34th season of the reality competition with her strategic play during the entire 39 days of the contest to beat the two other finalists - Brad Culpepper and Troyzan Robertson – and take home the US$1 million cash prize. "Survivor: Game Changers" was shot in Mamanuca Islands of Fiji. It was Lacina's second time to compete in "Survivor". She was a player in "Survivor Cagayan" in 2014, which was filmed in Palaui island, Cagayan in the Philippines. She placed 11th in that season. For the first time in "Survivor" history, a contestant was eliminated by default. Four-time "Survivor" player Cirie Fields was eliminated in a Tribal Council because she was the only one in the group of six remaining castaways who had no immunity via a win in a challenge, an idol, or a Legacy Advantage. In the Tribal Council, Lacina used her Legacy Advantage; Culpepper won in an immunity challenge; Robertson used his idol; and Tai Trang used his two immunity idols – one for himself and gave the other to Aubry Bracco. Since Fields had no immunity of any kind, she left the competition even though no one voted her out. Instead of the question and answer process done in past seasons, they allowed the jury of eliminated players to have an open forum with Lacina, Culpepper and Robertson to help them choose who to vote for as winner.
