Maureen Wroblewitz is the latest Filipina contender for the title; winner will be announced next week

  MANILA - Eighteen-year-old Filipino-German aspiring model Maureen Wroblewitz is in the top three contestants of the fifth season of "Asia's Next Top Model", whose finale will be on Wednesday next week. Along with Wroblewitz are Shikin Gomez, 24, of Malaysia and Minh Tu Nguyen, also 24, of Vietnam. As a challenge in last night's penultimate episode featuring Wroblewitz, Gomez, Nguyen and Clara Tan of Indonesia, they were made to walk down the side of the Subaru building in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia while attached to a harness. They also did a Subaru "Road Trip" photoshoot. In the order of call-out, Gomez was first followed by Nguyen. Wroblewitz and Tan were in the bottom two but Wroblewitz prevailed over her Indonesian competitor in the photoshoot. In a previous episode of the model competition, Tan had described Wroblewitz as a "pretty face with no skill" but now that she is among the top three contenders for Asia's Next Top Model, she proved Tan wrong. "Who would've thought a 'pretty face with no skills' would fight her way to Top 3?! Tu and Shikin have been my biggest competitors from the start and it's crazy that I get to be in the top with them. We couldn't be any more diverse from looks to personality. The only thing we've got in common now, is the determination to win! Never have I expected to come this far! This makes me even more proud of all the things I've achieved during the competition," said Wroblewitz. "After everything this week, I didn't expect to be part of the finale. But I'm glad I am. I'm not done yet showing all I've got," she added. Aside from Wroblewitz, Jennica Sanchez and Anjelica Santillan were the other Filipina contestants but were eliminated early in the show.
