The body of Jenny Alvarado, a Filipina overseas worker who died in Kuwait, arrived in the Philippines on Thursday night (January 16) after a mix-up that initially sent the wrong body to her family. Jenny Alvarado, a domestic worker, died of suffocation on January 2. Her family’s grief was compounded when they received the remains of a Nepali worker on January 10. Authorities said that Alvarado's remains would be transported to a funeral parlor in Cavite so that her family can identify her. Meanwhile, Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Secretary Hans Cacdac confirmed that the mix-up has been resolved. “We are providing full assistance to the Alvarado family,” he assured. The DMW has apologized for the previous error and is coordinating with Kuwaiti and Nepali authorities to investigate the incident. “Our labor attaché in Kuwait is closely monitoring the situation, and legal action will be taken against those responsible,” Cacdac said. The DMW is also investigating the circumstances of Alvarado’s death, with autopsy and police reports pending. The family has received financial and burial assistance, with further support to follow.
