The family and friends of Jenny Alvarado, a Filipina migrant worker who died in Kuwait, gathered for her burial at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Rizal on Sunday (January 26). Alvarado died on January 2 after suffocating from smoke caused by burning coal used for heating her room. Her tragic death has reignited discussions about the safety of Filipino migrant workers in Kuwait. According to Hans Cacdac, Secretary of the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), legal action is being taken against her employer for negligence. Additionally, a separate case is being filed against a cargo company that sent the wrong cadaver to her family during repatriation. Cacdac said, "We are determined to pursue justice for Jenny and ensure accountability from all involved parties." The incident has prompted talks within the DMW about a potential deployment suspension for Filipino workers in Kuwait. However, the Department of Foreign Affairs clarified that no decision has been made as of Saturday (January 25). Foreign Undersecretary Eduardo Jose De Vega explained, "Any ban must be well-thought-out to avoid negatively impacting bilateral relations."  CAM/Expat Media
