Filipina in Dubai claims groped during job interview

DUBAI - A 22-year-old Filipina has sued a 40-year-old Pakistani manager who she said groped her repeatedly in his office. The woman said that the Pakistani called her for a job interview and offered to pick her up in front of a Dubai Metro station. The manager then drove her towards what he said was a familiarization visit and job interview at his office during the incident in June. However, while in the car, the manager allegedly reached out to touch her arms. When they reached the office at Business Bay, the manager then forcibly hugged her and then groped her repeatedly. “He called me around 11am and said he wanted to interview me for the job. I met him and he picked me up. When we entered the office, he instantly groped me; he touched my waist and then my posterior. He also asked me if I was married or have a boyfriend, he hugged me and groped me,” the woman told prosecutors. She said that she was unable to shout for help for fear that he would harm her further. “I was too scared to react, then I asked him if I could use the bathroom and fled,” she said, adding that after running out of the office, she informed her brother about her ordeal. The siblings then reported the matter to the police, who shortly arrested the Pakistani man. At the Dubai Court of First Instance on Sunday (October 8), the Pakistani manager failed to show up for trial. Prosecutors have accused him of groping the woman. The hearing resumes on October 18.
