Filipina falls into well in Ras Al Khaimah, rescued

    RAS AL KHAIMAH - Cries for help were heard coming from a deep well in Ras Al Khaimah on Wednesday night and residents were shocked to find out that they were from a woman who had fallen into the well. It was not immediately clear how the 48-year-old Filipina fell into the well but rescuers from the Ras Al Khaimah Civil Defence managed to get her out safely. A rescuer rappelled down the well to save the Filipina, identified only by her initials L.J. Officials said that L.J., who works as a housemaid in the emirate, sustained minor injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment. The owner of the well is in police custody for questioning. Under the Ras Al Khaimah law, deep wells must be covered.
