Filipina in Sharjah wins Dh500,000 in Mahzooz draw after number ‘appears in dream’

DUBAI – A 38-year-old Filipina in Sharjah who said she dreamt of the winning number is now Dh500,000 richer after bagging the second prize in the Mahzooz draw. Catherine split the Dh1 million prize with a Pakistani expatriate in Abu Dhabi. They both matched five out of six winning numbers in the recent draw. The Filipina said she had an unexplained urge to participate in the draw and buy an entry on March 8, on her son’s death anniversary, according to a Gulf News report. She said she “just knew something big was going to happen”. And it did on March 13. The Filipina said one of the winning numbers she chose, the number 25, “just appeared in my dream”. She also chose numbers based on her two surviving sons’ birthdays, her birthday, and the death anniversary of her other son. Catherine said she will use part of her winnings to start a business and to help her siblings. She also plans on donating money to the church and those with ailments.
