The Philippine Consulate General in Dubai and Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi are now ready for the month-long voting of Filipino expats in the 2022 Philippine Elections. Registered Filipino voters in the UAE may start casting their ballots on April 10 at 8am (UAE time) until May 9 at 3pm. Voters will elect the next president to succeed Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte, as well as a new vice-president, 12 senators, and one party-list representative. The Philippine Consulate General in Dubai conducted the successful final testing and sealing of electronic vote-counting machines (VCMs) on Saturday (April 2). The ten VCMs will be used by 191,779 Filipino registered voters in Dubai and 117,000 land-based and seafarer expats in Abu Dhabi. Registered voters are advised to verify their names in the Certified List of Overseas Voters (CLOV) via the Philippine Consulate website first before heading to the polls. They should also present their Emirates ID, passport, or any valid ID for the identification process. Paola Ebora, Vice Consul of Dubai Consulate, encouraged Filipino expats “not to wait until the last minute” to cast their votes on their chosen leaders despite the month-long voting period in the UAE. For more information about the voting process, Filipino expats can inquire in person at the Philippine consulate during official business hours.
