A Filipino expatriate’s financial struggles turned into a life-changing moment when he won Dh1 million in The UAE Lottery after having a dream about his late mother smiling at him. Beauregard Lim, who has lived in the UAE since 2004, had been battling financial difficulties when he took a chance on The UAE Lottery, which he discovered on social media. Lim said that on the night of the draw, he had a dream of his mother’s reassuring smile. The next morning, he checked his phone and saw a notification that would change his life forever. “I was feeling down because of financial worries, and I got in touch with my family for help, but deep inside, I knew I had to find my way,” Lim shared. “That night, I dreamt of my mother smiling at me. Later, when I checked my phone, I saw a notification: ‘CONGRATULATIONS.’ I couldn’t believe it. My wife and I double-checked, and the numbers were all there. It was real.” Lim, originally from Manila, is only the second person to win the Dh1 million jackpot since The UAE Lottery’s launch last year. The win has not only provided him with financial stability but has also allowed him to fulfill a promise to his family. “I always said yes when my family needed help. When my savings ran low, I started saying no, and it hurt me. Now, I don’t have to say no anymore,” he said. Lim plans to use his winnings to invest in a business for his son and ensure financial security for his family. Bishop Woosley, Director of Lottery at The Game LLC, extended his congratulations to Lim, stating, “We are thrilled to witness the joy and excitement this win brings and remain dedicated to creating more unforgettable moments for all our players.” The next draw is scheduled for March 22. The UAE Lottery, the country’s first government-regulated lottery, was launched late last year under the oversight of the General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority. Draws are held every 14 days on Saturday and gives participants the chance to win cash prizes from Dh100 to Dh100 million. ICA/Expat Media ALSO READ: 1 in 8 million chance to win UAE Lottery jackpot
