Filipino groups in UAE warned over holding Dubai events

DUBAI - Filipino community groups in the UAE were recently reminded to ensure that their groups are registered before organising events in Dubai. The Philippine Consulate in Dubai issued a reminder following reports from Dubai's Community Development Authority (CDA) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs about groups who organised events even though they were not registered under the CDA. Expatmedia.net obtained a copy of the consulate's memo circulated among Filipino groups, which also said that certificates of recognition issued by the consulate have been revoked. The consulate also said it will stop issuing such certification in future. Filipino community groups were also advised to stop posting announcements of their activities on social media.
