Filipino household workers get first look at Philippine Pavilion in Dubai
DUBAI – Dozens of Filipino household workers in the UAE were given a first look at the Philippine Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai on its inauguration on Friday (October 1). The Philippine Business Council-Dubai and Northern Emirates (PBC-DNE) arranged for access, transportation, lunch packs and t-shirts for its special invitees. “We firmly believe in being inclusive and that they are part of the stories of the Bangkóta,” Bobbie Carella, President of PBC-DNE, told Expatmedia.net. The PBC-DNE recently organized a conference where it launched the official Bangkota song featuring Filipino TikTok influencers, and the unveiling of the official vehicle for the Bangkota mascot called Ube Boy. The pavilion, called Bangkóta after the coral reef, sits in Sustainability District of the Expo 2020 site. It features the artworks of modern Filipino artists, authentic Filipino food in the Mangrove restaurant and artisanal Filipino products in the gift shop, Go Lokal. The Bangkóta is the biggest Expo pavilion the Philippines has ever showcased, with a total area of 3,163sqm.
