Filipino launches solo travel agency in Dubai, offers 3-baggage allowance deal

Dubai-based entrepreneur Geoffrey Salatan recently launched Geoffrey Travel, his solo travel agency in Dubai, with a 3-baggage allowance promo on advanced-purchase airline tickets. Salatan, President and CEO of Geoffrey Travel, said the venture is in response to the growing demand for overseas travel among Filipinos in the emirates. The longtime Dubai resident and former ticketing clerk turned travel agency boss is excited to launch his own solo venture. “My humble experience has given me a deeper understanding of the market to manage its needs,” Salatan said, vowing to “personally assist” clients of Geoffrey Travel. As part of offers from his newly launched Geoffrey Travel company, the travel agency is offering a baggage allowance of up to three pieces of luggage with a total weight of up to 69kg for those who will avail of their 60-day prepaid or advanced-purchase airline tickets in partnership with Philippine Airlines. The offer is available on Dubai-Manila economy class roundtrip tickets bought via Geoffrey Travel until July 31. The tickets are available for use until November 30. Former ticketing clerk now a travel agency maven in Dubai

Leaving behind a job as a travel consultant for one of the Philippines’ top travel agencies, Salatan flew to the UAE in March 2006 to find a new challenge. He worked for two decades at Airlink International where his career saw a meteoric rise from ticketing clerk to various managerial posts that helped him gain a deep insight into the management of a travel agency. Salatan took a leap to entrepreneurship this year. “I want to make a difference to the lives of Filipinos here in UAE,” he said, “It is my passion in the travel industry and earnest desire to help more passengers.”

Living the dream

The Tarlac native and tourism degree holder credits his experience in the Philippines as a travel consultant for shaping his drive and character. He was living his dream, but was not afraid to explore outside his comfort zone. He believes in the mantra “Good deeds will bear no evil fruit”. This is why the ticketing clerk-turned-entrepreneur took a leap of faith in the UAE. He thought, if practicing his profession would do more good than harm, then it’s a challenge he will gladly accept. Salatan said he is excited to rewrite his success in the UAE.
