Filipino laundry clerk in Dubai hits Dh1 million jackpot in Mahzooz draw

John, a 26-year-old expatriate working at a laundry shop in Karama, Dubai, emerged as the eighth Filipino millionaire in the Mahzooz weekly draw. The draw, held on July 22, awarded John the guaranteed prize of Dh1 million, making him the 53rd millionaire to be crowned by Mahzooz. To date, around 54,000 Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) have won over Dh67 million through Mahzooz. Commenting about his life-changing win, John shared: "This is the first time I won anything in my entire life. Coming to the UAE was a huge step for me as I am the main breadwinner for my large family. Now the UAE and Mahzooz have awarded me this huge prize, which I still cannot fathom." John arrived in the UAE two years ago to work with his mother as a filing clerk at his uncle's laundry shop. Discovering the Dh1 million windfall in his Mahzooz account left John speechless. With his newfound wealth, John expressed his interest in investing in a laundry business in the UAE. He is considering expanding his uncle's existing laundry business or starting a new venture in the same industry. John also plans to support his father’s farming business in the Philippines, and using some of the prize money to fund his family’s livelihood. “My four brothers and two sisters are extremely happy for me, and I am forever grateful for this huge win,” he said.
