Three expatriates in the UAE have kicked off 2025 with an extraordinary stroke of luck, each winning Dh100,000 in The UAE Lottery’s Lucky Chance raffle. The winners include Daniel Lorenzo Ceria Hermanos, a Filipino chef; Muhammad Adnan, a Pakistani expatriate; and Tural Abbas Abbasov, an Azerbaijani resident. The UAE Lottery, launched in December 2024, is the country’s first officially regulated lottery overseen by the General Commercial Gaming Regulatory. Open exclusively to UAE residents and visitors, the lottery offers participants the chance to win life-changing prizes. “The Dh100 million is next,” said Hermanos, brimming with optimism after his Dh100,000 win. The Filipino, who works as a chef, learned about the lottery from his colleagues. “They were talking about it at work,” he shared. “I joined the fun.” Describing his winning moment, he said, “I saw the pop-up that said I had won Dh100,000,” recalling the disbelief and joy that followed. For Adnan, the win was a shock. “I could not believe it,” he said. The family breadwinner plans to use the money to support his family, especially his two blind brothers. Abbasov, a UAE resident since 2007, was equally thrilled. “As soon as it launched, I started playing,” he said. On receiving the notification of his win, Abbasov exclaimed, “It felt like a present for the new year from God.” With its promise of life-changing prizes, the UAE Lottery has undoubtedly captured the imagination of residents, and for these three winners, 2025 is already proving to be a year to remember.
