Filipino singing sensation Sofronio Vasquez, who recently won Season 26 of The Voice US, has returned to his homeland amidst a warm welcome and high spirits. Vasquez landed at Ninoy Aquino International Airport early Sunday morning (January 5), greeted by his mother Aida Vasquez and a small group of supporters. “It feels surreal to be back,” Vasquez said in an interview with ABS-CBN News. “Even on the plane, I was so excited. I couldn’t wait to reunite with the people who cheered for me.” The homecoming marks a triumphant return for the singer, whose soulful voice captivated audiences worldwide. Despite missing the holidays with his family, Vasquez expressed joy about the two weeks he has to reconnect with his loved ones. Vasquez is scheduled to perform at the renowned Sinulog Festival in Cebu—his first major live event in the Philippines since clinching the The Voice title. “It’s a big deal,” he admitted. “I’m nervous but thrilled. I want to give the crowd a performance that reflects the journey we’ve been through together.” The singer will also appear on It’s Showtime on January 6, promising fans an emotional homecoming performance. Additionally, he is set to share the stage with Original Pilipino Music (OPM) icons in ASAP, continuing his commitment to Filipino artistry.

Winning The Voice US has catapulted Vasquez into the limelight, bringing newfound challenges and opportunities. “It’s overwhelming. I used to walk around unnoticed, but now people recognize me everywhere,” he said, recounting a moment when fans approached him despite his casual appearance. Vasquez’s victory includes a recording deal with Republic Records under Universal Music Group. Among the exciting prospects is a potential collaboration with global music icon Michael Bublé. “He personally called to congratulate me and expressed his desire for a duet. It’s incredible,” Vasquez revealed. Vasquez has been in discussions with six talent management agencies for representation in Asia and the Philippines. NBC, which produces The Voice, is also exploring ways to boost his career in the region. Talks of a Bublé-Vasquez tour are underway, and Vasquez hinted at upcoming live performances and celebrity guestings. “Snoop Dogg’s manager also reached out to finalize his earlier promise to my mom about a plane ticket,” Vasquez shared. He remains in contact with The Voice coaches Gwen Stefani and Reba McEntire through a group chat. “They’re genuinely interested in how I’m doing post-show. It’s surreal but heartwarming,” he said.
