The Philippine Consulate General in Dubai hosted a diplomatic reception on Thursday (June 12) to commemorate the 127th anniversary of Philippine Independence, bringing together Filipino dignitaries, business leaders, and community influencers. Held at the luxurious Al Habtoor Palace, the reception was led by Consul General Marford Angeles and graced by Philippine Ambassador to the UAE Alfonso Ferdinand Ver, along with other UAE-based dignitaries, consulate and embassy staff, members of the Philippine Business Council, and leaders from various Filipino organizations. In his keynote address, Consul General Angeles emphasized the importance of the Filipino community’s contribution to the UAE, particularly in sustaining the growing strategic partnership between the Philippines and the UAE. The celebration also turned the spotlight on Filipino-owned businesses across the UAE, with exhibits showcasing entrepreneurial ventures in food and beverage, fashion, and other industries. As a special tribute, the Philippine flag illuminated the façade of the Burj Khalifa—the world’s tallest building—on Thursday evening, symbolizing the unity and resilience of the global Filipino community.
