The Philippine Consulate General in Dubai and Northern Emirates has issued a fresh warning to Filipinos in the UAE about an illegal recruitment scheme targeting low-skilled workers with fake job offers in countries under deployment bans, including Pakistan. In an advisory issued on Monday (May 19_, the consulate said these schemes typically involve the use of tourist visas with the false promise of employment abroad. “The Philippine government maintains that any recruitment activities circumventing existing regulations are considered illegal,” the advisory stated. The public is urged to be cautious and avoid dealing with recruiters—whether in person or online—offering employment in countries where deployment is prohibited. To ensure the legitimacy of recruiters, the consulate advised Filipinos to consult the official list of licensed recruitment agencies on the Department of Migrant Workers website. The consulate also encouraged the Filipino community to report any suspicious recruitment activities to authorities. “The Consulate urges all members of the Filipino community to remain vigilant,” the statement said. This advisory is part of the Philippine government’s ongoing efforts to protect overseas Filipino workers from illegal employment schemes and human trafficking.
