Filipinos living and working in the UAE are being encouraged to take part in one of the Philippines’ most prestigious national recognitions for innovation. The Philippine Consulate General in Dubai urged nationals to send their applications for the 2026 Presidential Filipinnovation Awards (PFA), a programme that honours groundbreaking Filipino ideas with strong potential for national development. The awards recognise innovators whose projects are still in the early stages of commercialisation but show promise in solving real-world challenges. The initiative supports the Philippines’ long-term strategy of building an innovation-driven economy. The call for entries was issued by the Department of Economy, Planning, and Development (DEPDev) through the National Innovation Council Secretariat. Organisers are inviting individuals, startups and enterprises — including overseas Filipinos — to submit their innovations. Projects may fall under key sectors such as technology, healthcare, environmental sustainability, creative industries and inclusive economic development. Applications are being accepted until March 1 through the official online platform at: filipinnovation.depdev.gov.ph. For questions or clarifications, interested applicants may email pfa@depdev.gov.ph or call (02) 8631-0960 local 21611. The awards offer not only national recognition but also the opportunity to spotlight Filipino ingenuity on a wider stage. ICA/Expat Media
