  DUBAI – Don’t use your passport as a guarantee to bail out friends caught in legal trouble in the UAE, the Philippine Consulate General Dubai warned Filipinos on Tuesday (October 18). In a statement, the consulate reiterated that the passport is the property of the Philippine government and must be used with care. “Although it can be used as a form of guarantee in the UAE, the consulate has received many cases where Philippine passports could no longer be claimed back from authorities because the person who used it as bail has already gone in hiding,” the consulate said.
