Fire breaks out in Abu Dhabi building

  ABU DHABI – A fire has broken out in a building under construction in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday (August 30). Crisis and emergency teams in Abu Dhabi have been trying to extinguish the blaze, with logistic support from Civil Defence. At least three floors were on fire in the 28-storey building located adjacent to The Beach Rotana Abu Dhabi Hotel and close to the Abu Dhabi Mall, alongside the bridge to Al Reem Island and Maryah Island. There were no immediate reports of casualties, and people in nearby buildings have been evacuated. Police have cordoned off the area as firefighters battled to control the blaze, which started at around 11 a.m. A source said that much of the fire has been brought under control.
