Fire breaks out in building on Palm Jumeirah

  DUBAI – A huge fire broke out at Oceana building on Palm Jumeirah at around 11 p.m. on Monday. Firefighters were still trying to control the blaze at the 14-storey building as of past midnight on Tuesday (December 13). Police have cordoned off the area. No one was reported hurt and teams have evacuated the building, according to the Dubai Media Office. Residents of nearby buildings were also evacuated. “Dubai Civil Defense is fighting a fire that broke out in a building on the Palm working to ensure the safety of everyone,” the Dubai Media Office said in a statement. The fire appeared to have engulfed the upper floors of the building but spread to the lower floors. By 12:27 a.m. the fire was brought under control. The cause of the fire is not yet known.
