Fire-hit building on Palm Jumeirah remains closed

DUBAI - More than 200 residents of Adriatic building on Palm Jumeirah were still not allowed to go back to their apartments on Tuesday (December 13), a day after a huge fire damaged the building. The fire in Adriatic building, which is part of the Oceana complex, destroyed several floors of the 14-storey building. There is currently no power or working elevators in the building and residents may only be given access to retrieve vital medicine, a building official said. Two hundred and nine residents from the Adriatic and the adjoined Pacific residence were given temporary accommodations in nearby hotels. The Oceana complex’s management firm, Asteco, said that most residents in the Oceana complex were allowed to return to their apartments early on Tuesday morning. "Out of the seven buildings, only residents of Adriatic and the adjacent Pacific building could not return home and were hosted in nearby hotels," Asteco said in a statement. "We are currently waiting for Dubai Civil Defence to notify Oceana management when residents of Adriatic building can return to collect personal belongings," according to Asteco. Dubai Civil Defence is still investigating the cause of the fire.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
