Private fireworks during Eid to cost violators Dh10,000   DUBAI – Those planning to celebrate Eid with fireworks will be in for tough punishment, with the Ministry of Interior announcing steep fines and jail terms for violators. It is illegal to sell or store fireworks in the UAE without a permit and violators can face imprisonment of up to six months and a fine of up to Dh10,000, according to the Ministry of Interior. Police have stepped up a campaign against fireworks, particularly with Eid just around the corner, reiterating a warning to the public about the dangers of fireworks. The sale of fireworks is tightly regulated in the UAE, which has seen several firecracker-related injuries. Last year, a teenage boy suffered an eye injury after a firecracker exploded near him in Bur Dubai. Stringent inspections last year also resulted in the confiscation of 22,153 firecrackers, with Dubai Police saying it has seized a total of 30 tonnes of firecrackers in four years.
