Floating house sinks near Burj Al Arab

DUBAI - A floating house that was placed in front of the Burj Al Arab has reportedly sunk. Police said that no one was injured in the incident on Wednesday. Rough seas and big waves caused the floating house to sink, said Lt. Col. Ahmad Atiq Burqibah, Deputy Director of the Search and Rescue Department at Dubai Police. Burqibah said that no one was inside the house when it sank, but divers still checked underwater as part of routine procedure. He said that the house was placed in the area temporarily. Developer The Kleindienst Group in a statement said that the floating house was used as part of the Sea Dubai event. The house "was compromised in rough seas and sank... No one was on-board at the time and a recovery exercise is underway to retrieve the platform,” the company said.
