  DUBAI – The weather bureau forecast fog to continue in Dubai until Sunday (January 1) as the Dubai police said that more than 100 traffic accidents happened during foggy weather this week. The police recorded 119 traffic accidents in Dubai alone on Wednesday due to heavy fog that has enveloped the city and nearby areas. Foggy weather also disrupted flights to and from the Dubai International Airport, airport officials said. Lt. Col. Mohammed Aman, acting chief of the Dubai Police Command and Control Center, said they recorded 119 accidents between 4 a.m. to 9 a.m. on Wednesday and received 1,980 calls for assistance by noon of the same day. He urged motorists to leave enough distance between their vehicles and use fog lights as the National Center of Meteorology and Seismology warned that visibility on the road will be reduced to 50 meters on thoroughfares. The weather center also said foggy conditions will continue until Sunday, New Year's Day. Aman said motorists should make sure that their car's windshield, headlights and windows are clean and to use hazard lights only if their car stops completely because of an accident ahead or because of a mechanical problem and to warn incoming drivers of anything unusual happening on the road.
