Former Pakistan president Pervez Musharraf dies in Dubai

Pakistan’s former president Pervez Musharraf died in Dubai on Sunday (February 5). He was 79. Musharraf reportedly died in a hospital in Dubai on Sunday morning. He was battling a rare disease called amyloidosis, a senior security official told media. The Consulate General of Pakistan in Dubai said that missions are in touch with Musharraf’s family who intend to have his body flown home to Pakistan. Musharraf was president of Pakistan between 2001 and 2008. In June last year, his family said in a statement that he was admitted to American Hospital in Dubai. He had been residing in the UAE for a long time, even before he became bedridden due to his disease. His family had said that Musharraf was "going through a difficult stage where recovery is not possible and organs are malfunctioning".
