Accusation adds to legal woes of physician who stands accused of sexual abuse of woman when she was still a child

  NEW YORK - A former doctor of the US gymnastics team who is facing charges of sexual abuse of a woman when she was still a child has been accused by three erstwhile elite gymnasts of molesting them in the past. Gymnasts Jamie Dantzscher, three-time US rhythmic gymnastics champion Jessica Howard and former national gymnastics team member Jeanette Antolin revealed in the TV show "60 Minutes" show that Dr. Larry Nassar touched them inappropriately under the guise of treatment for body pain. Dantzscher, in particular, recalled in the interview that Nassar "would put his fingers inside of me, move my leg around. He would tell me I was going to feel a pop and that that would put my hips back and help my back pain." Nasser's stint as volunteer physician of the US gymnastics team ended in 2015. Nassar is on trial for charges of first-degree criminal sexual conduct filed by a woman who claimed that she was abused by the doctor when she was still a child. The sexual abuse happened many times from when she was 6 years old until she reached 12 years old during family visits to the doctor's home in Lansing, Michigan. Dantzscher said she sued Nassar in September last year before a California court but used the name "Jane Doe" in the complaint to hide her identity. She revealed in the TV interview that she was the complainant. Dantzscher included USA Gymnastics President Steve Penny and others as co-defendants in the civil suit wherein she accused the organization of having negligently suppressed, concealed or failed to disclose knowledge that Nassar had engaged in sexual conduct with team members. Nassar's attorneys have denied any wrongdoing by Nassar. USA Gymnastics expressed shock that "anyone would exploit a child in this manner."
