Four people were injured following an incident in a building in Dubai’s Palm Jumeirah on Saturday (February 28), according to the Dubai Media Office. In a statement, the Dubai Media Office said emergency response teams were deployed immediately and the site has been secured. Dubai Civil Defence confirmed that the resulting fire was brought under control. “Four individuals sustained injuries and have been transferred to medical facilities. The safety and wellbeing of residents and visitors remain the highest priority. Authorities continue to take all necessary measures to safeguard the public,” the statement read. While authorities did not identify the building, Fairmont The Palm released a statement on Sunday (March 1) saying that the incident "took place in the vicinity", with "debris reported in a nearby carpark". "Fairmont The Palm remains open and fully operational during this time while the safety and wellbeing of our guests, visitors and team members remain our highest priority," according to  the hotel, adding it is "closely monitoring developments and taking all necessary precautionary measures in coordination with relevant authorities." Meanwhile, authorities urged the public to remain calm, rely solely on verified information from official sources, and refrain from circulating videos or images on social media.

Four airport staff injured, DXB concourse damaged

Meanwhile, Dubai Airports confirmed on Sunday (March 1) that four airport staff were injured after a concourse at Dubai International Airport (DXB) sustained minor damage during an incident. In a statement, Dubai Airports confirmed that the damage was quickly contained and emergency response teams were immediately deployed. “Dubai Airports confirms that a concourse at Dubai International (DXB) sustained minor damage in an incident, which was quickly contained. Emergency response teams were immediately deployed and are managing the situation in coordination with the relevant authorities. Four staff sustained injuries and received prompt medical attention. Due to contingency plans already in place, most of the terminals were previously cleared of passengers. Further updates will be provided as they become available,” the statement said. Authorities clarified that those injured were airport staff and that they received prompt medical care. Because contingency measures had already been activated, most passenger terminals had been cleared before the incident, limiting further risk. The development came hours after the Ministry of Interior issued a nationwide alert at 12:30am on Sunday. Residents across the UAE received emergency notifications on their mobile phones warning of a potential missile threat. The alert read: “Due to current situation, a potential missile threat, seek immediate shelter in the closest secure building, and steer away from windows, doors and open areas. Await further instructions.” Authorities have not directly linked the incidents at the airport and Palm Jumeirah to the missile warning but confirmed that emergency protocols were implemented immediately. The Ministry of Defense also confirmed that the country had been subjected to what it described as a “blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles”, and that it intercepted 137 missiles and 209 drones since Iran launched attacks on February 28.

Flights suspended across Dubai

On Saturday, Dubai Airports announced that all flights at DXB and Dubai World Central – Al Maktoum International (DWC) were suspended until further notice due to regional security developments. Emirates also temporarily suspended operations to and from Dubai amid multiple regional airspace closures. The airline advised passengers to check their flight status before heading to the airport.
