MANILA – The daughter of Philippine Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan joined a protest rally in Metro Manila on Tuesday (May 10) as preliminary results in the Philippine elections showed Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. leading the presidential polls by a large margin. “I think that the data shows clearly that this election has been bought a long, long time ago,” Frankie Pangilinan alleged in a video message on social media. Watch it here: Pangilinan was seen with several placard-bearing supporters behind her at the protest rally in Palacio del Gobernador in Metro Manila’s historic Intramuros district. “I am not going to have my president be named Ferdinand Marcos. Again,” said the outspoken daughter of the senator and his actress-wife, Sharon Cuneta. Pangilinan said she will not take the election results “sitting down”. “If we’re not here to stand up, if we’re not here to fight, ,” she said. With more than 95 percent of votes counted, Marcos Jr. received about 30 million votes, more than double that of his closest rival, Leni Robredo, with 14 million votes, according to a partial and unofficial tally of the Commission on Elections (Comelec). Marcos is the son of the late Ferdinand Marcos whose 21 years in office as president was marred by human rights abuses and widespread corruption. Marcos Sr. was ousted in 1986 by a bloodless revolution called People Power.
