Fraud Alert: Big Ticket Abu Dhabi warns people of fake raffle draw page

Popular mega raffle draw Big Ticket Abu Dhabi has issued an alert, warning the public of a fake social media account pretending to be its "second account." In an Instagram story, the official Big Ticket account (@bigticketauh) posted a screenshot of the poser page bearing the handle "@bigtiicketauh." The UAE authorities have repeatedly warned of scammers who pretend to be part of established firms in the country. Victims end up revealing personal information that fraudsters use to steal money. Earlier this year, the police issued a warning about advertisements on social media purporting to offer "government services" for a small fee. These fraudsters pretended to work for legitimate businesses that specialize in "completing residency requirements, vehicle license papers, school enrolments," Several locals have already lost money and complained about the situation. The police had previously warned the community not to share personal information online or over the phone with unofficial social media accounts. BKM/ Expat Media
