Free flu vaccine shots in UAE

  DUBAI – To combat seasonal influenza, health experts in the UAE are urging residents to get a flu vaccine, which is available for free for high-risk individuals. The Ministry of Health and Prevention said that the vaccine will be available until March. The injection is free for those considered most at risk of contracting flu, including pregnant women, elderly and people with chronic diseases. The vaccine is also available to the public starting at Dh250. It is not recommended for people with severe allergic reactions to eggs. Dr. Nada Al Marzouqi, director of the ministry’s Preventive Medicine Department, said children as young as six months old can get the flu vaccine. Al Marzouqi highlighted the importance of getting a flu shot once a year, adding that children under the age of nine will need another dose.
