British singer Ed Sheeran to make a cameo in Season 7 that will debut in July

  HOLLYWOOD - As if news that Season 8 of "Game of Thrones" will be the final run of the HBO hit drama is not sad enough for fans, here's more news that will make avid viewers even sadder. The upcoming seventh season that will premiere in July 16 will only have seven episodes instead of the usual 10 and the eighth season will be shorter by one episode. GoT creators D.B. Weiss and David Benioff said in a media and tech conference at the South by Southwest festival in Austin, Texas last Sunday that they already have a 140-page outline for eighth and final season. "It's only going to be six episodes for the final season. From the beginning we've wanted to tell a 70-hour movie. It will turn out to be a 73-hour movie, but it's stayed relatively the same of having the beginning, middle and now we're coming to the end. It would have been really tough if we lost any core cast members along the way, I'm very happy we've kept everyone and we get to finish it the way we want to," said Benioff. "Game of Thrones" is one of TV's most popular and talked about series on TV and is based on George R.R. Martin;s best-selling book. Weiss and Benioff were joined by GoT cast members Maisie Williams and Sophie Turner who play Arya and Sansa Stark, respectively. The two moderated the forum. Williams asked Weiss and Benioff how to keep people from leaking spoilers and Weiss jokingly replied "Intimidated and murder". Benioff, for his part, said it is difficult to keep things secret especially for a series like GoT but the spoilers haven't affected the show a bit. Meanwhile, British singer Ed Sheeran will be making a cameo in Season 7 as well as New York Mets pitcher Noah Syndergaard, who will play a Wilding. Sheeran is not the only to appear in GoT, the band Mastodon also had a cameo in the drama series' fifth season.
